Michael Offerman

Michael J. Offerman
Former Executive Director of Learning Innovations

Currently President of Capella University

Michael J. Offerman received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. After receiving his Master's Degree in 1979 and a Specialist Certificate in 1980, Mike Offerman accepted the position of Assistant Director of the Quad-Cities Graduate Center in Rock Island, Illinois. While there, he completed a doctorate in Educational Policy Studies at Northern Illinois University. After completing his graduate work, Mike Offerman held continuing education leadership positions at the University of Arizona and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. In 1994 he became Dean of the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Extension. In this role, he worked with fifteen University of Wisconsin institutions developing both annual and long-term outreach plans. In October of 1997 the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents created UW Learning Innovations, naming Mike Offerman as Executive Director.
